Retail Manager

The Retail Operations department is responsible for generating income and profit for the Bodleian Libraries, through on-site shops, online at bodleianshop.co.uk, and through wholesale business. The Bodleian Libraries are looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead the shop floor team in delivering excellent customer service and maximizing sales.

This role involves line management of all day-to-day operational tasks including supervision and rostering of the shop floor team, customer service, opening and closing the shop, till reconciliation, processing transactions, stock replenishment and routine house-keeping.

This is a permanent, full-time position, working 36.5 hours per week. This will be on a rota that includes some weekends and very occasional evening cover. The role is based on-site at the Bodleian’s central Oxford location and does not support home working.

Some lifting, carrying and moving of stock is required, as part of receipting deliveries and replenishing stock levels. Please note the working environment includes confined spaces and a basement-level stockroom.

About You
You will have previously worked in a shop floor management role, and you will have demonstrable experience of team leadership, cash handling, till operation and using a stock management system. You will have excellent communication skills and attention to detail, and you will be confident in the use of MS Office.
