Event Sales Manager

The Ashmolean Museum are looking to welcome an enthusiastic individual to their Commercial team at the iconic Museum. The Event Sales Manager (Weddings and Celebrations) sits within the commercial team at the Ashmolean museum and leads on the sale of weddings and private social events hosted within the stunning setting of the Ashmolean Museum. As a candidate for this role you will be sales orientated with a strong understanding of the wedding and social event market.

You will have a real passion for weddings and private celebrations with a natural flair for working closely with couples and clients on events that will be truly memorable for them, their friends, family and colleagues. This role enables the venue hire team to maximise the revenue the commercial department deliver back to the museum; in order for the museum to continue to provide free access to visitors. You will contribute to agreed annual venue hire and catering commission targets (individual and as a team).

This is a full-time, fixed-term position, working 37.5 hours per week for 11 months maternity leave cover, from early November 2024 until October 2025.

There may be a requirement to be able to work flexibly over a 7-day period including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. The role is based at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, with a laptop provided to enable some hybrid working from home as appropriate and required.

About You

You will be able to confidently engage with event management software and finance systems and ably prepare accurate financial information for event administration, delivery and planning and forecasting. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work confidently and effectively with colleagues, clients and third-party stakeholders, with a flexible, professional and collaborative solution finding approach.
