Assistant Librarian

The Bodleian Libraries are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and service-oriented individual to join the small team delivering a high quality library service supporting the research and teaching activity of the Department. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Bodleian Education Library ensuring effective and efficient library services that meet the changing needs of library users.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 36.5 hours per week on site in the library. Your working hours will be 08:45 – 17:15 (08:45-16:15 Wednesdays) with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break because your presence will sometimes be needed to close the library or supervise staff handover.

About You
You will use your skills in customer service and interest in information literacy to support readers and to develop innovative services, learning about user needs though interaction with staff and students in the welcoming department. You will have responsibility for the timely provision of online reading lists as well as a variety of projects within the library.

You will use your excellent interpersonal skills and organised approach to manage a small friendly team and a range of projects. The role includes undertaking a wide variety of administrative and professional duties whilst proactively upholding the Education Library’s strong commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
