Hawkwell House Hotel installs electric vehicle chargers for guests

Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel has unveiled electric charging points for its guests.

The boutique hotel has installed two AC 22KW EV charging points in its car park in Iffley, Oxfordshire. The charging points are ideal for visitors to hotel, for events, functions or overnight guests, who have an EV.

Hawkwell House installed the chargers as part of its sustainability strategy and to offer an enhanced service to its guests. The charging points are designed to help meet the increasing demand for EV charging in the hospitality sector.

Research published last month revealed a significant gap in the availability of EV chargers at city-based UK hotels, alongside a record number of electric vehicles on the road.

Hawkwell House, a stylish 77-bedroom hotel underwent a recent multi-million refurbishment and the charging point installation forms another step in its journey of continued improvements.

As part of Hawkwell House’s commitment to working with local companies and suppliers to support the local economy it partnered with Oxfordshire based charging point operator EZ-Charge to install the infrastructure.

Anuj Sagar, General Manager at Hawkwell House, said: “It’s fantastic to launch our EV charging points for our guests to benefit from. It’s another great step forward in our continued delivery of improvements we are making to ensure our guests receive a first-class experience.

Phil Shadbolt OBE, Chairman of EZ-Charge, said: “We are delighted to offer state of the art charging to Hawkwell House customers. It is great to see that EV charging is now taking off as customers gain confidence in our easy to use and reliable charging infrastructure, we like to make EV easy.

“This site aligns nicely with the Park and Charge project where we now have over 250 EV charge points throughout Oxfordshire giving EV drivers in the county unprecedented access to one of the best EV charging Networks available.”

Hawkwell House offers all day dining to guests and visitors to the hotel in its main restaurant and lounge as well as alfresco dining on the terrace all year round. It also has three versatile event spaces that can be booked for weddings, events, meetings and parties.

Located in Iffley, Oxfordshire, the hotel is three miles from Oxford rail station and is close to Oxford’s southern bypass road.

The hotel recently launched an exclusive new summer menu for visitors and locals to enjoy and make the most of the terrace for al fresco dining.
