MUSIC AT OXFORD: VACHE BAROQUE OUT OF THE DEEP: A MUSICAL MEDITATION ON WILDE’S LETTER FROM PRISON
Mon 21 Apr, 19:30 - 21:25
Magdalen College Chapel, Magdalen College, Oxford
One of the great wits and personalities of the 19th century, Oscar Wilde was sent to prison in 1895 for what was deemed the ‘gross indecency’ of his sexuality. Taking inspiration from the De Profundis (‘Out of the deep’) letter which Wilde wrote during his incarceration, Vache Baroque will explore themes of love, isolation, and redemption in an absorbing journey of words and music.
