Blenheim Palace announce an evening with best-selling author Clare Mackintosh
UNESCO World Heritage Site, Blenheim Palace, has announced that it will be hosting an intimate book launch event for author Clare Mackintosh to celebrate her new book, ‘I Promise It Won’t Always Hurt Like This’, which was released in March 2024. Her newest project is a non-fiction book about the grief following the loss of a loved one.
The inspirational book was created around Clare’s tragic experiences losing both her infant son and her father and provides an accessible roadmap for those grieving whilst looking for compassion, understanding and hope. Mackintosh explains that this is the book she needed whilst navigating her own grief.
The charity evening event, priced at £15 per person, will be hosted in Blenheim Palace’s newly restored Orangery on Monday 21st October from 6-9pm. The ticket includes nibbles and Prosecco which will be served before the interview with Clare. The book will be available for purchase at the event with the opportunity to have it signed by the author.
All proceeds of the event will be donated to Silver Star, of which Clare is a patron. It is an Oxford-based maternity service charity that supports Oxfordshire mothers and their families by ensuring their Silver Star Unit is well equipped and comfortable for all women during their stay at the Women’s Centre. They also help to fund ground-breaking research into complicated pregnancies.
Clare’s book is for anyone who has struggled or is currently impacted by grief, no matter who they’ve lost.

About Blenheim Palace
Home to the Dukes of Marlborough since 1705, Blenheim Palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Set in over 2,000 acres of ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped park and gardens, it was designed by Vanbrugh in the Baroque style and is also the birthplace of one of Britain’s most famous leaders, Sir Winston Churchill.
With over 300 years of history to share and one of the most important and extensive collections in Europe, the magnificent stately home has a rich variety of cultural highlights and an extensive programme of special events and exhibitions.
The total Estate expands into a further 10,000 acres outside of the designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and focuses on care for the land through sustainable means, pursuing net zero, the growth of the local economy, the provision of affordable homes, apprenticeship training and supported community groups as part of its ambition to make this part of Oxfordshire a fairer and better place.
