Bicester Motion Charity drive targets £1000 this Christmas with Scramblers

The final Scramblers event of the year, taking place on Sunday 15 December, hopes to raise £1000 for two local charities when Festive Four-Wheelers hits the road for a parade.

Comprising Bicester Motion team members, onsite specialists and Pegasus members of Scramblers, a line-up of around 100 four-wheel drives full of festive cheer will tour the surrounding villages in aid of StarterMotor and Alexandra House of Joy.

StarterMotor is an automotive charity based at Bicester Motion that champions the classic car industry to the next generation, promoting the skills and jobs it offers. Alexandra House of Joy, meanwhile, is a Bicester-based organisation working to build a day centre with eight bedrooms for respite, medical critical care, and end-of-life support for adults with learning disabilities.

The line-up will gather on the Main Drive at 4:30pm and at 5pm the first car will roll out of Gate 1, navigating through the surrounding area before passing through town and back at Bicester Motion.

Tickets for the initial Assembly and to see the parade gather and depart are available exclusively to Pegasus members. Proceeds from tickets will be donated to the charities.

A live band will be present, along with a selection of stalls and festive-related food and drink. For further details about how to get involved, contact hello@wearescramblers.com.

Bicester Heritage:

Bicester Heritage has created a revolution in historic vehicle ownership. Founded in 2013 Bicester Heritage has gone from a standing start to a home for over 50 specialist businesses, and growing, with a collective turnover of over £100m, making it the largest player in the industry and set to grow exponentially with a global reach.

The unique ecosystem of businesses based at the beautiful 444-acre former WW2 RAF Bomber Training Station acts as ‘marina-like’ cluster, promoting skills and expertise, employment, qualified customer footfall, shared business incubation and aggregate growth. The site is all about driving the future of the past.

The former RAF Bicester site on which Bicester Heritage is now based, is of national historic importance. Neglected for the best part of 40 years, it was added to Historic England’s ‘At Risk Register’ in 2008 and designated the most ‘at risk’ of all Defence Estates in the UK.

Since Bicester Heritage’s tenure, over 95% of the buildings have been delicately restored or re- activated for modern business use, with the site now held as a national exemplar of constructive conservation by Historic England. The time-warp base is truly unmatched in evocative character and an active airfield and test track complete its dynamic operation.

Bicester Heritage is a component part of Bicester Motion, a visionary campus which aims to be the go to destination to experience all forms of motion technology, past, present and future, less than an hour from London.
