Show more As well as being a consummate military professional and thinker, General Barrons is known for his eloquence and wit, both of which feature in his recently-published autobiography.
General Sir Richard Barrons is one of the outstanding military officers of his generation, with a career involving multiple operational tours to a variety of theatres, senior UK command roles (including as the founding commander of the UK’s Strategic Command and being responsible for security of the 2012 London Olympics) and as a senior commander within allied headquarters.
He is renowned for the clarity of his thinking, not least in how Defence must modernise to face both emerging national and international threats, but also in how it must grasp the opportunities presented by the digital revolution that affects our everyday lives. He is currently driving the execution of the UK’s Strategic Defence Review, which is due to report early in the New Year.
Proceeds from event ticket sales support both The Army Benevolent Fund and Soldiers of Oxfordshire Trust.
