The book “Invisible Women” exposes a concerning bias in healthcare data – it has historically excluded women, leading to biased statistics, a lack of understanding of female biology and responses to treatments. As AI becomes ubiquitous in healthcare, this gender data gap can create unsafe algorithms that inherit gender bias & stigma, potentially exacerbating misdiagnosis, missed diagnoses, and improper medication recommendations for women.
Through a series of lightning talks, a short panel and Q&A, this event will explore how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion can strengthen AI safety for women’s health, if AI for healthcare can ever be ethical, where the accountability for responsible health AI development lies, and much more.
