Show more Debasmita Bhattacharya is one of India’s finest young sarod players. She balances a deep knowledge of classical forms with an expansive mindset, pushing the Hindustani tradition into the 21st century without compromising on its core values. Born into a musical lineage, she began training began under her father Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya, a leading sarod artist. First heard in the UK in 2017, Debasmita has participated in several cross-cultural projects, including with jazz and Scandinavian folk musicians.
Gurdain Rayatt started his musical journey at the age of 3 under the guidance of his father, Ustad Harkirat Rayatt, and his grandfather, Bhai Gurmit Singh Virdee. After training with tabla legend Guru Acharya Pandit Shankar Ghosh, Gurdain is now a disciple of Pandit Yogesh Samsi, taking continuous taleem to further his development. Not only one of the leading tabla players in Europe, Gurdain excels as a soloist, sensitive accompanist, and a versatile musician in cross-cultural, folk and world music projects.
Worcester College’s gardens extend over 26 acres and are unique in the city for incorporating a lake and sports fields. Set on the field with the lake as a backdrop, this concert will offer an unforgettable evening of music.
