As the largest Hospice in Oxfordshire, Sobell House cares for approximately 500 patients at any one time. They believe that every adult should be able to die with dignity and without pain. Their services aim to improve not just the physical wellbeing, but also the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of their patients. They provide care in the inpatient ward, in the local hospitals and out in the community. Their services are always free to use but it costs them around £9 million a year to provide them.
Sobell House Hospice Charity raises at least 25% of this through various fundraising events such as Lights of Love, Rainbow of Ribbons, Sunset Stroll, Oxford Half Marathon, London Marathon etc. The latest fundraising project to have launched is #OxTrail2024. OxTrail is Oxford’s first-ever art sculpture trail. A team of over 30 life-sized ox sculptures will be herded into positions throughout Oxford in the summer of 2024, creating an engaging, exciting event for the city – its residents, businesses and visitors. Each of the giant oxen will be uniquely decorated by artists to form a vibrant and family-friendly trail celebrating the wonderful City of Oxford – its history, culture, places and people. Over eight weeks, OxTrail will encourage locals and visitors of all ages to explore Oxford’s iconic attractions, find some hidden gems and engage with the community.
