Description

What better place to inspire the world of Harry Potter than the historical and mysterious buildings of Oxford and its University? For all fans of Harry Potter (designed especially for children and their families), this is the perfect Oxford walking tour. Our friendly and knowledgeable guide will take you around the key locations that were used in the filming of the movies, and also served as inspiration for the sets.

From the ancient Divinity School, part of the world-famous Bodleian Library, to Christ Church, this tour will take you outside around the historical landmarks of Oxford, and you can learn which parts of the city and university were used in your favourite Harry Potter moments.

The Divinity School was used as a location in several of the Harry Potter films (do you remember the Dance School and the Infirmary?) It is the oldest teaching hall of the whole of the University of Oxford, dating back to 1427. You can enter The Old Schools Quadrangle it sits within, which houses the different schools including the ‘Schola Metaphysicae’.  You may even find your very own “lightning strike”!

The magnificent Christ Church Dining Hall was used as the inspiration for Hogwarts Great Hall and the stairs were used in a number of early scenes.  The hall will be pointed out to you as you stroll past Christ Church.

Similarly, New College was used as a location for both the Cloister and the tree where Malfoy was turned into a ferret!

Tours of New College and the Divinity School can be booked separately, and the cost added to your tour price.

All our guides are familiar with Oxford’s other attractions and will be able to advise you which other magical sites you can visit after your tour, to make the very most of your Harry Potter tour of Oxford!

This tour is currently only available as a Private Group Tour – please see the Private Tours page and choose the Harry Potter Tour option.
