Oxford Brookes University showcased its award-winning conference and events facilities at yesterday evening’s Experience Oxfordshire Networking Event. Experience Oxfordshire Partners and stakeholders attended the evening in the award-winning John Henry Brookes building.

Today marked the first Experience Oxfordshire networking event of 2016. Held at Eynsham Hall, there were over 150 local business and organisations in attendance as well as the Rt Hon David Cameron, Prime Minister and MP for Witney.

VisitEngland, the national tourist board has announced the shortlist for Tourism Superstar 2016. This year two Experience Oxfordshire partners have been included in the short list of ten: Tracy Slator, a Tour Guide for Oxford Castle Unlocked, and David Cameron-Young, an Express Coach Driver for the Oxford Bus Company.

Hayley Beer-Gamage, Chief Executive of Experience Oxfordshire, has recently been elected as the new Chairman of the Tourism Society. She was elected during the Society’s board meeting held in London on December the 9th, and takes over from Sandra Matthews-Marsh who held the position for two years.

Experience Oxfordshire, the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for the county has just unveiled the new economic impact results of tourism. The study commissioned by Tourism South East shows an increase across the whole of Oxfordshire for 2014. The new results show that in 2014 Oxfordshire welcomed 26.7 million visitors to the county, who in turn spent £1.86 billion in the local economy and supported over 32,000 jobs.

On Monday 26 October Chiltern Railway’s new rail link between Oxford Parkway and London Marylebone ran for the first time. This new rail link is the first between London and a major British city for over 100 years, and has been ten years in the making. The new rail link gives commuters and tourists alike a way to go from Oxford to London in only 60 minutes, making both the cities more accessible.
