The Ashmolean Museum is home to The Alfred Jewel - inspiration for the Inspector Morse episode, The Wolvercote Tongue, in which the Ashmolean was used as a set. The museum houses large collections of Ancient Greek and Ancient Egyptian artefacts - a tailor-made location for Inspector Morse to search for clues and inevitably solve another mystery.
